Great Boat Shoe!
The Sebago Schoodic is a comfortable, supportive boat shoe that looks and feels great. The colors available are great and the sole is more substantial than most boat shoes, to give longer wear. The only drawback is that it is no longer going to be available in wide widths under size 8 men's. So if you're a man with a small, wide foot, get this one in wide while you still can!

Be careful of the fit, wide is not "wide". The instep is very tight and as in previous reviews, after a few days of wearing the shoes, my instep was too sore. It is a nice looking shoe and I'll try to wear them again, later. Zappos' service was again, perfect and I'll continue to shop at Zappos.

First pair f shoes were too short, but Zappos easily and efficiently exchanged them. Second pair at first seemed short though, a half size larger. I now find that they have shaped themselves to my food and feel fine. -- Although they still seem a tad wide although they are narrows. If you get a pair give them a chance loosen up and to mold to your foot.

Disappointed in this shoe -
This shoe is terribly uncomfortable. After wearing them for a few hours on two occasions, the balls of my feet were so sore, it hurt to walk. There is inadequate support (cushion) in the front part of the shoe. I'd return them, but have worn them outside.

A good shoe -
I was looking for a sturdy shoe I could just slip on and walk away, in narrow. This shoe fits the bill. It is a good no socks shoe and works well with thinner socks. It does take a bit of breaking in to loosen up the leather. Sebago makes a good shoe, I have had various versions, dress and casual, for 30 years and never had a bad one.

Inconsistency -
I take a wide shoe and have purchased the same size in a Sabago deck shoe. They fitted fine. I tried this shoe on and wore it around the house for a day to see if they were OK. They seemed to fit fine. Then I wore them out on day trip where a lot of walking was needed. After a couple of hours of walking I noticed soreness in several areas of my feet. The next day I put them on and they were "unwearable" because of the pain. Also, they can't be returned because of the wear so I paid a lot for something I can't wear. Thank you for asking. I know I have to be careful with wide feet. That is why I wore them around the house for a day.

I had never worn or even tried on a Sebago shoe. Because it was available in "narrow" width, I tried it. It fit perfectly and had the look I wanted.

Comfortable and well made -
While I haven't worn these for too long, they are comfortable and appear well made. The foam rubber insole makes it easy on the feet, though how long it will hold up before becoming compressed and essentially useless remains to be seen.
In the looks department, these aren't the hippest shoe on the block, and not quite as good looking as Sperry's, but they are solid and neutral colors make them easy to go with just about everything.
One plus over most Sperry's is the cord lace, rather than the leather lace used in most Sperry's that constantly come untied and are unruly.

The shoes are great! They might feel about a 1/2 size smaller than athletic shoes, so order a half size larger than normal.

Great looking shoes. My 8WW (4E) Sebago boat shoes feel about a 1/2 size smaller than 8WW Dexter’s. Very pleased with Zappos’ selection, delivery and customer service.

These shoes are good looking and durable. Their quality is pretty much the same as several pairs I've had in the past although the appearance is different (no cloth vents).

The shoe is well made overall.
It took a little breaking in, but no true discomfort to speak of.

Great looking, but…
Ironically today I was going to email Zappos about these shoes. The stitching has come undone on my left shoe. I knew they were tight, but I thought they would stretch. Apparently not, to my surprise and disappointment, so back they have to go.

Not Quite the Same Old Docksides We've Known & Loved -
I've been a Sebago Dockside fan since college. They were consistent in their fit and quality. When I saw the Schoodic I thought it might be good to have a "dressier" casual boat shoe for work. It is a nicer shoe but they have substituted a synthetic shoelace instead of the trusty rawhide that kept them tight fitting over all these years. The new "improved" laces just don't hold. Mine are forever loose and in need of attention several times a day. Not what I was accustomed to with the rawhide laces of the old Docksides. It's a year later and they still look good but drive me crazy.
Zappos on the other hand, couldn't have provided quicker delivery. They can't help that Sebago fled the shores of Maine for points far away.
Grade: Zappos - A+ Sebago Schoodic - B-.
