Birkenstock® USA, began over 30 years ago when the founder, Margot Fraser, had a dream of sharing the comfort and health benefits of Birkenstock shoes. Awesome shoes if on your feet all day.
The best "kitchen" shoe ever. I have worked in the food service industry for 20+ years and the past 7-8 years have been spent in a kitchen. I have worn Birkenstock sandals for approx 20 years but didn't want to spend the $100 for "kitchen shoes" - especially since this is my part time job. Best purchase ever... Even after working a double, I can get up of a morning and walk without pain/discomfort in feet, legs or back. My full time day job is a desk job - but once a year I help with physical inventory. The first year I wore tennis shoes - big mistake! I went home for lunch that first day with aching feet, legs and back - decided to try my Birki Prof Clogs for the rest of the day - figured anything would be better than the tennis shoes. Best decision ever - the aches and pains from the morning went away and I still felt good at the end of the day. Expensive? Yes - but worth every penny! I have been wearing this pair for 3+ years and would have replaced anything else 5-6 times by now and likely spent more money.

Love these Birkenstocks -
It had been too long since I purchased new Birkenstocks and I am very happy I decided to buy these. I have always worn the other style - two wide straps and I wondered if I would like these. I love them! Much more feminine. And as always, the most comfortable shoe on the planet. Thank you Zappos for your quick and efficient service.

Comfort and style -
This is the first Birkenstock shoe other than sandals that I have bought, frankly because I did not like the chunky look. This shoe looks good with dress slacks and with jeans and, most of all, is COMFORTABLE. I no longer buy shoes just because they are cute or match my clothing. I bought this in the black and the brown. I wish Birkenstock would make it in a cream or white wool as well.

I have the Red Quasar Patent color and think they are the sexiest, most beautiful shoes I have ever seen! I always get compliments on these shoes! They do not fit true-to-size. I got an 8 W when I normally wear an 8 1/2 M in most shoes, plus I had to take them to a local shoe repair shop to have them stretched because they pinched my baby toe so badly, but now that they are stretched, they feel better. I recommend to others trying to have your Stuarts stretched if they pinch your little toe.

Great fit for a narrow foot -
Wearing a 12N before I found Zappos and narrow footbed Birkies -- clog style shoes were impossible! These are a great gray color perfect with casual pants. Subtle enough to go to the office with gray dress pants and a sweater. Superb customer service paired with a great shoe for the money.

Looking for a comfy, good looking sandal, I tried the Gizeh Birk and had to return it - felt funny and I didn't like the look. Ordered the Cozumel in its place and absolutely love it. Comfy out of the box, though I agree with others that the toe thing takes a bit of getting used to if you want to wear it on long walks. The looks are great. Finally figured out my Birk size - 39 narrow - and I wear an 8.5 medium otherwise. So I guess all Birks run wide - thanks to other Zappos reviewers for this info.

I am on my feet 12-14 hours a day and these shoes are my savior. The non-slip sole is very good too. The cork foot bed conforms to your feet in about a day or two. I would recommend them for any one working in and around a kitchen.

Good after break-in -
I have bought these to replace the flip flops I wear around the house which apparently do not help with my hyper-pronation and knee issues. The Birkenstocks are definitely a step in the right direction in that sense. It is useful that the straps are adjustable. However, despite offering good feet support, these shoes are hard and the edges of the nubuck straps cut into my feet a little bit. Following other users' advice, I ordered narrow (I normally wear regular width) and size 7.5 (I normally wear size 8). I cannot say these are my favorites and/or the most comfortable footwear I ever owned, but they served my immediate purpose.

The fit is great. I get lots of compliments on this shoe and wanting to know where I got it. I am a diabetic and my doctor recommends wearing Birkenstock because of the overall support for the entire foot.

Love My Birks!
I have a lisfranc fracture- meaning a permanent break in my left foot along with no arch. Birkenstocks have been the only thing I have been able to wear for 5 years. The Zurich is great for NE winters to wear with socks. Love my Birks!

Awesome for pregnancy!
I'm 7 months into my first pregnancy, and these are the only shoes I can wear that don't result in my feet and ankles swelling at the end of the day. They're a perfect width, and the arch support is wonderful - I'm still fairly comfortable on my feet at the end of a very long teaching day. They look great with my dress clothes, too.
My only minor complaint is that I have a black leather pair and a brown nubuck pair, both size 37 normal width, and the brown pair feels much bigger than the black pair. I compensate by wearing thicker socks with the brown pair, but it was odd - usually European sizings fit me exactly the same all across the board.

Best clog there is!
I tried 4 different clog type shoes before going back to the old classic. If you've never worn a pair, it's worth a try. The 'narrow' size is actually like a 'D' from most other shoe makers. The 'normal' width is very wide. The oiled leather scuffs up easily...gives a rustic look if that's what you like.

Comfortable, great support, sorta cute for a birkenstock -
With heel spurs & plantar fasciitis, I've been living in my Birkenstock Tatami clogs from a few years ago. But they're brown & don't go with all my work clothes, so I needed a black alternative. This was the closest I could find. At first they felt a little snug, but I wore them around the house with socks before wearing them out & now they're perfect. Super supportive & somewhat cute, as far as Birkenstocks go. I recommend these to people with foot issues or people that want to avoid developing foot issues.

Zappos Rules!
I ordered my shoes Thanksgiving night. They were on my porch the very next afternoon! Talk about fast. Even more wonderful was how cute theses shoes are! I had Milanos about 15 years ago, but these are my first Birkenstock closed shoes, and they did not disappoint. Love them. I highly recommend them to anyone with wide feet or painful bunions, as I have. But my highest praise is reserved for Zappos. Polite, friendly, efficient. I couldn't be happier. I tell everyone to go Zappos!

2 sizes tried -
I wear a size 12 (women's) and tried both the 45 narrow and 44 narrow. The 44 narrow actually felt like a narrow, so I kept those. Very comfy except sometimes the side pieces fold in on my feet.

I can't live without my Birkenstocks -
I've worn Birkenstocks for years and this pair is just as good as the other pairs I've had. The last pair lasted for 15 years and I have every reason to believe these will do the same. Added to that is the low Zappos price and the great Zappos service. I do believe the sizes are slightly inaccurate. I usually wear a 39 or an 8. I always order a 38 in the Birkenstock brand.

I have been through many pairs of shoes in the kitchen. First off I usually need to buy an arch support with all of them. I don't like shoes for crews, which most people like. They don't last long at all. These are by far the best shoe ever. And Zappos shipping is sooooooo fast!

The straps are so comfortable you hardly notice them. The width is perfect for the slightly wider foot. The only thing, which is minor, is that I wish the footbed had a little more cushion. It doesn't seem quite as soft as other Birkenstocks I've owned. However, I will be buying these again.

One year on...
I am a baker and I was blowing through two or three pairs of crocs a year before I found these puppies. I spend about 50-60 hours a week on poured cement and bad linoleum floors carrying 50 pound bags of flour or dough. While it did take a bit to break in the foot bed I think that they are possibly the best things to have happened to me (workwear wise) since the invention of shorts. Having fewer days with sore feet is a luxury and I appreciate that there is a company like Birki’s that cares about its customers enough to provide a shoe that is this substantial with a replaceable foot bed. The shoes themselves are in great shape and I have only had to replace the foot bed recently. A little hint, the Profi-Birki foot bed fits into this shoe and I have found them to be both more comfortable and more durable than the one that comes with it. Finally, I have to say that being able to toss these into the dishwasher or washing machine to get them sparkling clean is a huge plus. Way to go Zappos for carrying this awesome work shoe.
